ICSI Service
for external clinics

Avantea offers an innovative collaboration model with veterinary clinics across Europe, allowing breeders to access OPU-ICSI technology without transferring their horses.

The benefits of an international ICSI equine clinic

Through our network of partner clinics, oocytes can be collected locally and sent to Avantea laboratories for fertilization and embryo production.

Safe transport

A specialized logistics service ensures the secure and timely transport of oocytes to our laboratories.

Specialized logistics

After fertilization and embryo development, frozen embryos are returned to the original OPU clinic or sent directly to clients for transfer into recipient mares.

Zero interruptions

Our model guarantees maximum efficiency, safety, and flexibility in equine reproductive management, without disrupting the sports career or daily routine of donor horses.

How does the network
of partner clinics work?

STEP 1

OPU in a partner clinic

Oocytes are collected at one of our partner clinics, minimizing stress for the mare and providing access to OPU-ICSI technology without the need for long-distance transport.

STEP 2

Safe and timely transport

A dedicated logistics service ensures that collected oocytes are transported at a controlled temperature (20°C) and processed at Avantea laboratories within 24–48 hours, maintaining maximum quality and viability.

STEP 3

ICSI Fertilisation in the Avantea laboratories

  • Oocytes undergo in vitro maturation until they reach the optimal stage for fertilization
  • They are fertilized via ICSI (Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection), with a single sperm injected directly into the oocyte by expert embryologists
  • Cultured for 7–8 days until viable embryos develop
  • Frozen and stored to preserve quality and ensure flexible use.

STEP 4

Return of embryos to clinic or client

Safe and timely shipment of frozen embryos to the original OPU clinic or directly to the client for transfer into the recipient mare.

Our network

We collaborate with over 25 partner clinics across Europe, ensuring the secure transport of oocytes and embryos.
